Typical electrical projects in Vienna
From apartment renovations and period building modernization to office or retail fit-outs: this page is intended for projects where the electrical installation needs to be newly planned, expanded, renewed, or systematically adapted.
New Build & Initial Installation
When the electrical installation is being built from scratch – with suitable distribution, enough circuits, well-planned connection points, and proper preparation for future expansions.
Office Fit-Out
When workstations, meeting rooms, lighting, connections, or technical infrastructure in offices need to be newly installed, expanded, or adapted to a new use.
Apartment Renovation & Full Refurbishment
When rooms are being redesigned, kitchens relocated, additional connections are needed, or several electrical works should be bundled efficiently.
Retail & Commercial Fit-Out
When a shop, studio, practice, or other commercial space needs new lighting, modified connections, additional circuits, or a technical reorganization.
Modernizing a Period Building
When existing wiring, circuits, connection points, or distribution boards no longer meet today’s needs and the electrical system in the existing building should be upgraded in a technically sensible way. More info here.
Expansion in Existing Buildings
When additional wiring, new circuits, extra connection points, sub-distribution boards, or preparatory measures for smart home, wallbox, or PV are needed.
What larger electrical projects typically include
In renovations, remodels, new builds, or larger extensions, it is usually not just about individual sockets or lights, but about a clean overall electrical structure – including sensible preparation for future technologies such as smart home, building automation, charging infrastructure, or PV.
1
Assessment & Technical Evaluation
At the beginning, the key question is what already exists, what can be retained, and which parts of the installation should sensibly be renewed, expanded, or rebuilt – also with a view to future technology or additional requirements.
4
Distribution Boards
Especially in larger remodels or expansions, it must be checked whether the distribution board, protection devices, and overall system structure still match the actual requirements – including when additional technology may be added later.
2
New Wiring &
Circuits
When rooms are used differently, additional electrical loads are added, or the existing structure is no longer sufficient, wiring and circuits need to be properly replanned or expanded.
5
Connections for Appliances, Kitchens & New Areas
Whether for a kitchen, workspace, additional room, or commercial use: larger projects usually require more than standard connections and should be aligned early with the actual intended use.
3
Sockets, Switches & Lighting Points
Connection points should not simply remain where they once made sense, but should be placed where they are actually needed in everyday life or in the future use of the space.
6
Preparation for Smart Home & Additional Technology
If major electrical work is already being carried out, it often makes sense to plan for future expansions at the same time – for example for smart home, building automation, charging infrastructure, PV, or other technical components.
Many projects are not implemented only for current needs. If topics such as smart home, building automation, charging infrastructure, or PV may become relevant later, the electrical installation should be prepared for them from the beginning in a sensible way.
If your request is already more specific
For some topics, we have dedicated pages with more detailed information, clearer classification, and a more suitable starting point. If one of these topics is the main focus of your project, you can continue reading there directly.
What sets Elektro Vienna apart
Clean electrical engineering doesn't just begin with execution, but with a clear assessment, transparent communication, and professional implementation. More about Elektro Vienna.
Clear technical assessment
We openly tell you what makes sense, what should be considered from the start, and where a minor intervention is sufficient or a larger solution would be the better choice.
Compliance with standards
As a master electrical company, we are fully licensed and work in accordance with ÖVE/ÖNORM standards – professionally, cleanly, and transparently, including for extensions or more complex remodels.
Experience with existing buildings
Whether it is a period apartment, renovation, extension in an existing property, office, or commercial premises: we plan according to the specific property, not with a one-size-fits-all approach.
Personal & transparent
You do not receive an anonymous standard reply, but clear feedback, a personal contact person, and a transparent assessment of your project.
How your project works with us
Whether it is a renovation, remodel, extension, or new installation: you do not need to know every detail at the start. What matters first is a clear assessment so that the scope, priorities, and next steps can be defined properly.
1
Inquiry and initial assessment
You briefly describe what it is about – for example with a few keywords, photos, or plans. This allows us to make an initial assessment of your project and determine the most suitable next step.
2
Technical coordination
Depending on the project, we clarify whether the main focus is an extension, renewal, remodel, or a completely new installation – and which related topics should be considered at the same time.
3
Defining scope and implementation
Based on the assessment, we determine which works are necessary, how the installation should be sensibly structured, and whether future expansions such as smart home, charging infrastructure, or PV should already be prepared for.
4
Execution and clear feedback
The work is carried out cleanly, in compliance with standards, and in a transparent manner. Once completed, you will clearly know what was done and which next steps may make sense if needed.
Especially with larger or mixed projects, what matters is not that everything is perfectly defined from the start – but that the right questions are asked early and the next steps are planned properly.
What influences the price of larger electrical projects
For larger electrical works, the price does not depend on one single item, but on the overall project: the existing setup, the scope, the desired equipment, and which technologies or future expansions should already be taken into account.
Condition of the existing installation
A key factor is what is already in place, what can be retained, and how complex cable routes, distribution board modifications, or work in the existing property will be.
Scope of the work
Whether it is about individual extensions, several new circuits, a comprehensive renovation, or the technical reorganization of an entire area makes a major difference for both effort and pricing.
Equipment & future technology
Additional comfort features, design elements, or preparatory work for smart home systems, building automation, EV charging infrastructure, or PV will naturally affect the overall scope of the project.
Our electrician hourly rate is €100 per hour, and travel within Vienna is €100 – both plus VAT. We charge materials at wholesale prices plus a markup of approximately 25%. For larger projects, however, we usually do not calculate purely on an hourly basis, but on a project basis depending on scope and work items. As a result, the effective price for larger volumes is often more favorable than for small one-off jobs or purely time-based work.
